Dr. Jerzy Czołgoszewski – assistant professor in the Department of Special Pedagogy and Resocialization of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn. Author of two monographs on the history of the prison system and many publications in the field of penitentiary science.

Long-time employee of the Prison Service. Participant of numerous study visits devoted to various aspects of penitentiary science in European countries, non-European countries and the USA. Initiator of the “Penitentiary Clinic”, an innovative project implemented in 2012-2019 by the UWM Department of Resocialization Pedagogy together with the Olsztyn Detention Center, aimed at students of re-socialization pedagogy, combining theoretical learning at the university with practical classes on the premises of a penitentiary unit. Member of the Polish Penitentiary Society.
