JURY International Film Festival in Olsztyn „Prison Movie"

Journalist, reporter, writer. She specializes in the topics of national minorities and the history and culture of Warmia and Mazury.

JWS’s reports have been printed in the regional press (“Warmia and Mazury, ” “Nasz Region,” “Tygodnik Warmiński,” “Posłaniec Warmiński,” “Borussia” social and cultural quarterly) and the national press (“Rzeczpospolita,” PLUS monthly, “Słowo – Dziennik Katolicki,” “Gazeta Wyborcza”.). One of the reportages served as the canvas for a film made by TVP Gdańsk. The author of 16 books, containing mainly reportages showing the picture of dramatic events viewed through the prism of the experiences of ordinary people, entangled by accident or by choice in the great history. The first of these, “Too Little for A Pole, Too Little for a German,” was recognized in the 15th Polish-German Yearbook, published by the Institute of Political Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

Two of JWS’s books were nominated for the Warmia and Mazury Literary Prize. For twelve years she served as Plenipotentiary of the Governor of Warmia and Mazury for national and ethnic minorities. From 2002 to 2011 she was president of the Olsztyn branch of the Polish Journalists Association. Co-organizer and juror of journalistic competitions.
